Innovative Persona Mask bullion stacker from South Korean producer, Coins Today, is joined by a second issue, a Guy Fawkes mask
Coins Today’s impressively varied range of stacker bullion continues to expand with the addition of the second in its ‘Mask’ range. Launching early-January this year, followed by a gilded variant in February, the Persona Mask was designed with a nod to the then recent smash-hit TV series, Squid Game. It looked terrific, and was a breath of fresh air in the still fledgling stacker genre.
The second issue is very much of the same ilk, taking the style of the original mask, and reproducing it with a low-res polygonal look. This time, the inspiration comes from the ultra-famous Guy Fawkes mask that originated in the excellent Alan Moore penned movie, ‘V For Vendetta’, but made the jump to global iconic status when it became the face of the hacker group, Anonymous.
Like the Persona issue, this is a two-ounce coin, and like Persona, there are three finishes. The core choice is what the producer calls a Light Antique finish, and this is the true bullion version, with a tighter premium over spot, and an unlimited mintage. The Dark Antique finish is sold boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity, and sells at a higher price, as you’d expect given the limited 3,000 mintage.
The gilded variant is rarer still. For Persona, the mintage was just 456 pieces, chosen to match the number of competitors in Squid Game. That number doesn’t have any meaning to the mythos around Guido Fawkes and his bombing exploits, and we haven’t received a number for it yet, so we’ll update when we know. I’m guessing it might be 605, as 1605 was the date he tried to blow up the political class (we know how he feels…). Another great release, which should be available shortly.

Guy Fawkes is a great subject for this series…. unfortunately when I look at this version all I see is STAN LAUREL of Laurel and Hardy
