AllCollect glorifies the Great Commanders with a silver coin series, launching with the Spartan legend, Leonidas

Born into the warrior culture of ancient Sparta, Leonidas embodied the virtues of courage, discipline, and unwavering loyalty to his people. He was famed for leading his army of 300 warriors in the pivotal 488 BCE Battle of Thermopylae against the might of the Persian Empire. Leonidas’ leadership and tactical brilliance were instrumental in
holding off the Persian forces for days, despite being vastly
outnumbered.

His name became synonymous with heroism and selfless devotion. Even in
the face of certain death, Leonidas chose to stay and fight, rather than
submit to Persian domination. The battlefield was an inspired location to defend, holding up the Persian forces long enough to allow the Greek city states to survive. While ultimately, the battle was lost, and all were slain, it was considered a success, and Leonidas entered history as one of the great commanders of his era. A great choice to kick off this new coin series.

AllCollect have always produced some exceptional numismatics, concentrating on the higher-end, and employing some of the finest designers in the market today, Great Commanders is another such series, struck to a high-relief in five ounces of fine silver. The design is just outstanding, with the depiction of Leonidas packed with power and determination. Detail abounds everywhere, and the interaction between helmet and head looks perfect, Three Spartan warriors in active stances fill the background, and the whole is surrounded by a Greek meander-style border.

The obverse is custom to the coin, with a weathered Spartan shield in the centre, and a similar meander border surrounding it. It all looks good, but obviously the star here is that reverse face. The coin will come boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity and has a mintage of 750 pieces. Available to order now, it should ship starting late next month. On the evidence of this debut, Great Commanders will certainly be a series to watch.
