Forget Cocaine Bear, Coins Today debuts Coolcoin Bear, a stackable silver grizzly with attitude aplenty

Just four days after we looked at the first 2024 stackable silver bullion release from Coins Today, we have a second to marvel over. While that female torso issue was the second in a series, the one we’re looking at here is the debut release in a new range called ‘Fierce Beasts’. This series will depict some of nature’s most powerful and striking creatures, and what better way to start than then apex predatory powerhouse that is the Brown Bear.

This is no sedate look at this creature, but by far the most dynamic depiction we’ve ever seen in precious metal, certainly in bullion. The bear is shown tearing its way through a wooden wall, in a manner that makes Jack Nicholson’s stint in ‘The Shining’ seem positively sedate. The high-relief utilised here is extremely striking. Indeed, the whole thing strikes us as quite awesome. You guessed it, we love this one.

It never ceases to amaze us how this South Korean producer manages to make such a wide range of designs across multiple subjects, and still ensure they remain completely stackable. As you can clearly see from the image above, they slot together with no issues whatsoever. The composition of the piece is engraved on the edge, which you can just make out above.

This is also a two-ounce piece, and we don’t yet know if this will join several other releases in their range to get upscaled to a kilo, or downscaled to a half-ounce. The latter may be difficult given the level of relief exhibited here, but a kilo would surely be a sight to behold. There’s an unlimited mintage, which usually equates to competitive pricing, and they come encapsulated. They should be available to order any time now. Really outstanding.
