CT’s first stackable silver bullion of 2024 adds the female torso to stand alongside the male design from last year

What better way to start off our 2024 coverage of the numismatic world than a look at the latest silver stackable from South Korean producer, Coins Today. An expansive range, for which we’ll soon have a comprehensive profile, it’s covered a wide range of subjects since the first one, a Korean Doggaebi shield, debuted back in April 2021.

In June 2023, CT released a couple of new designs, and one of them was a male torso, done in what could best be described as a Classical Renaissance style. You can see it in one of the images in the gallery lower down, It was, despite its complex shape and use of lashings of high-relief, fully stackable, and exceptionally well realised.

Fast-forward six months, and the second in this series has debuted, this time, surprise, a female torso. Again, it is beautifully realised, with largely spot-on anatomy, and an attractive, sweeping pose that accentuates the femininity of the subject. As before, the composition of this is two-ounce piece is engraved on the bottom edge, which you can also see in the gallery below, on the demonstration of the stackability.

The torso has a light antique finish, and an unlimited mintage, so prices are very competitive compared to numismatics of a similar weight, and availability should be less of a problem, of course. We’re not sure where the series will go next, given we’ve already run out of human torso’s, unless they go with different types, or different species. I’d volunteer mine with its beer gut, but you couldn’t do that in just two ounces…
