The innovative Fender series from Swiss producer, MTB-PAMP, returns with a dual-coin set celebrating the Bassman

We’ve covered MTB/PAMP’s cool range of Fender tribute coins for a couple of years now, and they’ve been universally appealing, both for the coin collector looking for something a little off the wall, to the Fender fan looking for quality memorabilia. There have been both guitar picks, and miniature guitars, coloured using shades used by Cadillac in the fifties and sixties. All are in our monster Thematic Guide.

The latest is an extended version of the guitar concept. Rather than the usual Stratocaster, or Telecaster guitars, we’re being offered the Fender Precision Bass. The coin is formed in the same style, but the colour is more ambitious and less monolithic than before, and the patterning on the obverse is different, and placed on the body only.

However, the big change for this release is the inclusion of a second one-ounce coin. Joining the guitar is the equally legendary amplifier that accompanied it in an effort to create a unique sound, something the combo did to great effect in the world of Soul Music especially. The Bassman is also shaped and coloured. We have to give a special nod to the obverse, which continues the theme and is packed with inscribed details from the original amp. Even Queen Elizabeth might get down and boogie on it. Or maybe not…

The packaging has clearly had much thought put into it, and looks perfect. Honestly, if you’re into the brand, the whole series has been a treat, but this is our favourite so far. Fortunately, the mintage is set a bit higher at 4,000 units, so picking one up should be a little easier than usual. Previous Fender issues have sold out rapidly. Available to order from today.
