Ukraine’s beautiful Fauna in Cultural Monuments series updated with first two of three 2018 issues

Like Numiscollect’s History of the Crusades and the National Bank of Poland’s Treasures of Stanislaw August, the National Bank of Ukraine also have a series less well known to collectors that deserves a wider audience. Called Fauna in Cultural Monuments of Ukraine, it showcases how animals have been depicted in the art and architecture of this Black Sea nation through the centuries.

Launching in 2016 with three coins, there were three more in 2017 and the two above are the first of three coins in 2018. Half-ounce of sterling silver in weight, with partial gilding, this is a series with a unique subject and some superb artistic design. They’re quite hard to pick up, but relatively affordable.
