Panda silver bullion coin from Niue exclusive to Silver Gold Bull

The silver bullion coin market has probably never been more vibrant with choice than it is today, with new product appearing not just as part of the release schedules of the big mints as in years past, but at the request of dealers in smaller numbers than the huge multi-million mintages we associate with the top dogs. Recent coins like the Niue Athenian Owl, the Australian Swan and the Palau Mozart are good examples.

American coin dealer Silver Gold Bull have a new exclusive one-ounce silver coin for sale depicting the Giant Panda, much like the iconic Bank of China series but in this case issued for numismatic favourite, Niue Island. It’s a fine enough design by Bojan Rajlic and Marko Vuckovic, easily mixing it up with the Chinese series, although we’d like to see the composition inscription reduced to a minimum like the NZ Mint does. The obverse has radiating lines much like a Royal Canadian Mint bullion coin, but we understand these are US produced, possibly the Sunshine or Highland Mint. Margins sit between the Maple Leaf and the Silver Eagle, so nothing to complain about there.  Ships individually, in tubes of 20 or boxes of 400. A great addition to the market.

MINTS DESCRIPTION: The Chinese panda bear is one of the world’s most recognizable and beloved animals. Its distinctive black and white colouration has made the panda a national symbol for China. Although considered a carnivore, bamboo makes up over 99% of the panda’s diet. The panda is currently considered a vulnerable species, with only a few thousand alive today.

The reverse of this coin features an adult and baby panda happily munching on their favourite food, bamboo. They are surrounded by a highly detailed bamboo forest, with hills in the background. The top of the field is engraved with Chinese characters meaning Giant Panda. The obverse displays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. For added security, the obverse has been engraved with radial lines as an anti-counterfeiting measure.
