With the biggest buzzword online undoubtedly being ‘Artificial Intelligence’, and the whole cyborg/cyberpunk genres, it’s no surprise to see it garnering some attention in numismatic circles as well. We’ve seen a bullion coin, and several collectible designs from various producers over the last few years, with CIT’s ‘Cyber Queen’ being the latest, and Artisan Coin’s gorgeous ‘Robots: The Next Evolution’ being a particular standout.

New producer, The Gold Village, who we believe works closely with MK Coins, an Asian producer rapidly building a reputation for exquisite coins, has debuted this superb new two-ounce silver A.I. design, using that MK formula of multiple finishes, and tiny mintages. The design is the polar opposite of Artisan’s Robot coin, which showcased a bold, elegant, minimalist look. This one is packed to the rim with detail, over both faces, each struck in high-relief.

The reverse features a lifelike cyborg face, with the rest a mass of electronics and hydraulics. There’s a striking contrast between the smooth face and the intricate components that works well. The obverse carries on with the componentry, some integrated into the machine, and some floating above it, like the phalanx-style Gatling gun. It’s equally detailed.

There are three finishes available, and mintages are low on all of them. The antiqued and part-gilded one, likely to be many people’s favourite, is actually the most common variant, but even that only hits 129 units. The gilding is present on both faces, unusually. The next most common version, at 89 pieces, is an antiqued one, and rarest of them all, a clean silver finish, and there are only 39 of these being produced. The packaging on them consists of what looks to be a superb acrylic block frame, which suits the theme perfectly. An excellent release, in our opinion, it should be available to order now, with shipping scheduled for mid-March.
