MintXXI @ WMF: A dynamic Dragon & Phoenix coin kicks off Mint XXI’s first batch of 2021 coins in glorious style

It isn’t only CIT putting out some beautiful, top-end numismatics for the World Money Fair, but other AgAuNEWS favourites like Mint XXI, Numiscollect and more. Mint XXI have impressed us greatly over the last couple of years with some striking, original issues, not least of which the Spartan Hoplite and Dante’s Inferno coins.

Kicking off our coverage of their first batch of 2021 releases is the mints interpretation of the Chinese Phoenix & Dragon myth. We’ve seen coins with this subject before, the Perth Mint particularly using it for bullion based releases, and PMC having a two-part release that we’ve yet to cover, but kudos to Mint XXI for this beautiful, dynamic design, inspired by the concept of Yin & Yang.

High-relief, antiquing, and vibrant digital colour combine to make this easily one of the best we’ve seen on Chinese mythology. At 50 grams in weight, it also avoids going too high up the price ladder, and it’s well presented in the latex-skin frame. Issued for Ghana, this is a cracking release and a great start to our look at this release run.
