250th Anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence proof coins (2026 Royal Mint)

As expected, the upcoming 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence is creating a lot of numismatic interest, and one of the biggest players with intimate interest is Britain’s own Royal Mint. A new proof range dropped today, designed by Gordon Summers, the current Chief Engraver of the Royal Mint, in both gold and silver.
The design is genuinely excellent, with the eagle seemingly bursting free from the moment the quill touches the paper. The detail in the hand and feather are superb, and the eagle is done in a style the Americans seem to love so much on their coins. It’s all very symbolic and perfectly on point.
The range comprises two silver coins of one and two ounces, and gold in quarter and one ounces. Topping the range are a two-kilo gold coin with a £323,170 price tag, of which only three will be struck, and a solitary five-kilo gold coin that will sell for a staggering £820,925 (just shy of $1.1m US!!). I suspect that coin already has a buyer or purpose, but if not, and you want it, don’t forget to click our banner below first! LOL. Available to order now, it’s a fine design, in my opinion, and all versions come boxed with a COA.
