Mint XXI marks ten years of Ethereum, with a cryptocurrency themed silver coin

Mint XXI continue with their unique range of cryptocurrency-denominated silver coins, with the launch today of the 17th issue in their ‘United Crypto States’ (UCS) series. While almost all the range is denominated in Bitcoin, Dogecoin (made more famous by Elon Musk) has made a single appearance, and so has the world’s second most popular cryptocurrency, Ethereum.

Ethereum is back for a second coin, and for a good reason. Marking ten years since its creation, literally to the day (it went live on 30 July 2015), it features the angular logo of the system, highlighted with gilding, over a geometric pattern. Everything outside the logo and text is plated with black ruthenium. It’s a clean, elegant design, instantly recognisable to the crypto crowd.

For the obverse, the design common to the UCS range returns, and it’s also ruthenium plated. The denomination is inscribed at the top, and in this case, it’s one million GWEI, which equates to 0.001 Ether (there are a billion GWEI to one Ether). At the current price, that 0.001 Ether is just under $4 USD, but it’s crypto, so that could be $8, or 8 cents tomorrow…

The unusual feature of the UCS is the shield hologram on the obverse, under which is the denomination in QR code form. We wouldn’t recommend removing the hologram, however. The coin comes boxed with a COA, and is available to order now. A really unique series, full of hugely varied designs. Check out more of them here.
