The ‘Angelic Blades’ series of four silver miniatures finishes with the launch of the gilded variants of the Sword of Uriel

We’ve noticed quite an uptick in weapon-shaped cast silver items of late, and while I’m the first to admit they’re a little outside the stuff we usually cover, they’re popular, and, more importantly, often superb examples of the miniature art. One of the best of them has been South Korean producer, Coins Today’s, four-issue series, ‘Angelic Blades’.

The fourth, and last of them, was the Sword of Uriel, a particularly extravagant example of the type, that we’ve already seen in antiqued form. Like the earlier releases, that is now followed by a pair of part-gilded variants (one yellow, one red), with a limited mintage of 500. It was a great looking design, and it’s lost nothing now it has a little bling on it.

The basic antiqued version comes encapsulated, but these gilded specials are presented in custom display cases, which can be arranged in several ways, most uniquely as an interlocked cross shape that we think would look very cool on a small turntable in a display case. You can see some examples above.

It’s a shame to see this series end, but collectors will probably like the new Divine Weapons range that recently debuted, and which focuses on the Greek gods, rather than the biblical angels. This pair should be available to order now.
