Christ the Redeemer 1/1000oz minigold coin (2026 Numiscollect)

I know we keep saying it, but the meteoric rise in the price of gold is going to bring changes to the collectible coin market. First amongst these will be a transition to smaller formats, with the traditional favourite one-ounce coin closing in on $5000 USD in bullion form, it’s clear that the number of collectors in a position to lay down that much money is considerably smaller than when it was at $2000 just three years ago.
We’re already seeing the mass emergence of minigold coins, and amongst the smallest of these is a new wave of 1/1000 oz coins. Numiscollect are joining this emerging market with their first issue, and it’s a minigold version of the impressive Christ the Redeemer dimensional silver coin that we covered last September, and where we also talked a little about the statue itself.
Even though the coin is a flyweight at 0.031 grams, it manages an impressive 22 x 35 mm size, which compares well dimensionally with a standard 0.5 gram minigold coin, at sixteen times the weight. It’s a shaped coin, as you can see, and it’s a good reproduction in miniature. Clearly, you lose little with these affordable gold coins when it comes to aesthetics. Like most of the coins, Christ the Redeemer comes mounted in a credit-card style pack, which we’re glad to see producers standardising on. It makes storage neater and more efficient. Available now, we’d not be surprised to see more of these coming from this talented Dutch producer.
