Mythical Creatures form the basis of a new shaped silver series, starting with that most popular of them all – the Dragon
Coins Today continues to push the envelope with their undenominated silver range, and are following up their outstanding sword series with an attractive look at mythical creatures. The first of these is this Dragon formed in three ounces of fine silver, and like the sword series, is fully dimensional, with full shaping on both sides.
This is very much a dragon in the European style, much like the one that represents Wales on the British Isles, and is depicted wings outspread, with some pretty colouration on one side. The whole thing is antique finished, and expertly textured. We commend the South Korean producer for eschewing the usual Chinese style of dragon for one less commonly seen in modern numismatics.
Another thing carried over from the swords is the availability of a custom display stand system, in this case in the form of small column stands, done in the Greek Ionic style, and styled to look as if carved in a black marble, like Nero Marquina. When the dragon is placed in its custom capsule, it will stand with ease on top of the column. One of them will come with every issue in this series.
Formed in three ounces of fine silver, this looks to be another terrific release from Coins Today, and a great debut for this series. This is not one of their higher mintage offerings, and only 1,500 pieces will be produced. Available to order now.
