Egyptian gods, fallen angels, a sorceress, a pair of eagles, and the strength within us, are all inspiring new coins. Mint of MK has been busy!

The Mint of MK powers on with a packed release schedule, far too many for us to cover in full, so as we’ve done in the past, we’ve picked out a mix of them which caught our eye for either the design, the theme, or the format. Our promised Coin Series Profile to their Twelve Constellations Zodiac series is now up and running, so we’re not looking at any of those, and we also aren’t including the silver foils. Those will definitely get a range summary soon, but there are quite a few of those, so you’ll have to bear with me there.

Mythology is here, as it always seems to be across the industry, as is nature, and there’s an interesting concept coin that will resonate in today’s world, we feel. All are silver, although one has a copper core, and each uses two-ounces of silver, even the copper-cored one. All but one have a UV application by enamel, and all but one are round. High-relief is very much in abundance throughout the five coins.

The coins not featured here won’t get an article because of the sheer number of them, but we will do one of our video round ups. Mint of MK are to commended for the variety and quality of the images and videos they produce, It makes our job easier, and gives you all a better look at the coins, which is surely a sign of confidence in their own products. Every coin her is boxed (superb solid acrylic box), with a COA. Enjoy.

2025 DOUBLE EAGLE

REVERSEGLOWING
OBVERSEGLOWING

This is the only nature coin, and the only one with a copper core. In this case, two ounces of fine silver are laid over 11.5 ounces of fine copper. As you can see from the specs of the different coins here, that makes for a substantially bigger coin than a standard one, with an 80 mm diameter representing a 150% increase in surface area, from under 20 sq.cm, to over 50 sq.cm. The thickness, and thus the metal available for high-relief, also increases heavily.

The pair of eagles on this coin makes for a particularly striking look. The reverse face has a tight headshot, while the obverse goes with a full body look. Both sides feature that UV glow-in-the-dark look, subtle on the portraits, but very in-your-face on the obverse. We said this was a nature coin, but these are not natural looking birds, having a strong mythical hint to their look. A very striking design.

2025 ANUBIS

REVERSEGLOWING

Anubis is the jackal-headed god of Ancient Egypt, and one of that civilisations most important deities, and the god of the dead. The design choices here are quite unusual, eschewing that ultra-stylised look the Egyptians maintained, for a very animalistic portrayal. His attire is very Ancient Egyptian, however, so there’s no confusing who this is. The high-relief here is especially imposing, and Anubis has glowing eyes.

The obverse is very stylised, depicting mummified pharaohs with an almost spiritual look. We like the design here, but it is skirting, rather than delving deep into Egyptian styles, as it has an almost Mesoamerican look in some respects. It looks like these are shown to be the souls given to the care of Anubis. The only one of these five coins to be issues for Gabon, its mintage of 299 is also higher, although still quite low overall.

2025 BREAK FREE

REVERSEGLOWING

This one has a very unusual, but perfectly on-point message for today’s turbulent times. We’ll reproduce the mints own description below rather than do our own usual interpretation of it, especially given my own bouts of depression might mess it up. Beautiful.

In life, the path to freedom is often shrouded in shadows, with the true essence of our strength hidden beneath layers of doubt and fear. The “Break Free” coin captures this profound journey, illuminating the transformative power that lies within us all.

The obverse of the coin, when viewed in regular light, reveals an intricate and compelling design, symbolic of the challenges that life presents. But when darkness falls, the coin’s hidden glow emerges—an ethereal representation of the inner strength that is often concealed within us. This luminous display serves as a powerful metaphor: even in our darkest moments, our true potential is waiting to shine through, guiding us to break free from whatever binds us.

The reverse side, with its depiction of a figure bound and blinded, reflects the struggles that keep us tethered—societal pressures, personal fears, and the weight of expectations. Yet, even in this state, there is a flicker of golden light, symbolizing the untapped energy ready to burst forth and liberate the soul.

This coin is more than just a collectible; it is a beacon of hope and resilience. The glow-in-the-dark feature serves as a constant reminder that no matter how concealed or buried our power may seem, it is always there, ready to be unleashed. Hold this coin as a symbol of your own journey—a testament to the unbreakable spirit that lies within, waiting to be revealed. Mint of MK wishes that everyone facing difficulty will find inspiration in this coin and experience their own moment of breaking free.

2025 MORGAN LE FAY

Originating in Welsh mythology, the enchantress Morgan le Fay is one of the core characters in the Arthurian legends, often depicted as King Arthur’s sister. We’ve said many times over the years how difficult it is to describe the subjects of many coins, because of the wildly different descriptions there are of them, and Morgan is certainly no exception. She’s been portrayed as both a benevolent protector of Arthur, and as an antagonist, many legends playing off that moral ambiguity.

The coin sidesteps that conflict by choosing to depict her at two stages in her life. The reverse face shows us a young and vigorous Morgan le Fay wielding her magic power shown as an intense glowing red flame. The obverse has her as an aged woman, more casually wielding her magic – more in control, but bearing the scars of a lifetime of manipulating great power. A fine imagining of a character, usually just depicted as a beautiful woman in a weird hat. Here you can see the power, and the toll it takes. The high-relief is awesome, and worth pointing out in the video.

2025 LUCIFER

Finally, we have the only non-circular coin here, and it’s an angel, albeit a former one. This isn’t part of MK’s ‘Archangel’ series (profile guide coming), but rather a standalone issue with a completely different design style, being broadly rectangular. The first thing you’ll notice about the depiction of Lucifer is the gilding. MK are very unusual in that, in some cases, they use an applied gold leaf, rather than the standard electroplating. As you can see, it offers a very vibrant, and more flowing appearance.

The bulk of the rest of the coin, including almost the entire obverse with its floral imagery, has a burgundy finish, which contrasts well with the gold. Lucifer himself is antique finished, and struck to a high-relief. An extravagant piece, in an almost Eastern European style.
