Germania Mints flagship bullion series, starring their personification, Lady Germania, launches its eighth annual issue

First issued in 2019, Germania Mint’s flagship series, simply called ‘Germania’, has become an eagerly awaited part of the annual bullion calendar. The series focuses on Lady Germania, the female personification (much like Britannia, or Marianne) of what was once a historical province, largely situated north of the Rhine river, and a thorn in the side of the Roman Empire for centuries.

For most of its eight issues, the series designs have followed her on a journey, crossing a sea, alighting in a new land, and journeying across it, The 2026 design, by Natalia Danysz, finishes her journey, as she sits on a throne, the ruler of the land. She wears the crown introduced on the 2025 coin, that replaced the earlier floral headgear, The same pair of Odin’s ravens, Huginn (“thought”) and Muninn (“memory”), join her. These were messengers, informing Odin of events on Earth, suggesting Germania’s story was of the utmost importance. The same common obverse, one of our favourites, returns.

There are changes to the line-up, at least as it stands at the moment. For the last few years, we’ve had silver bullion coins in 1oz, 2oz, 10oz, and 1kg weights, but for 2026 the initial line-up is a 1oz silver only, but it’s joined by a 1oz gold bullion coin for the first time since 2020. There was also a special edition released for the World Money Fair, that was identical to the bullion coin, except for gilding to the central figure. A proof silver coin is offered, with some detail changes to the background field, and a more defined strike. The big news is the addition of a 1oz copper variant. We love this idea, and feel that copper could be a big boost to the casual collector market, especially when design standards match those of silver and gold. I look forward to seeing this one.

In the meantime, thanks to the mint, we have our own images of the silver bullion and proof coins, which should give you a good idea of the finished coin in hand. I still haven’t got the lighting right, but I’ll get there when I have funds to buy a better setup than the bodge I have now. The images are okay, however. All the coins are available to order now.

Below you will see the official images and videos of the three variants. They give a good, consistent look at the various coins.
