The Indian festival of Diwali is a fertile breeding ground of inspiration for Germania Mint’s latest cast silver bars

The Hindu festival of lights, Diwali, will take place on October 20th 2025, and last for five or six days overall. It marks the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, basically good over evil, and is also celebrated by the Sikh and Jain communities. As light is the victor, houses are decorated with oil lamps, candles and lanterns, and there are fireworks, and plenty of food. Sounds like a good time!

The Hindu pantheon is an eclectic bunch, with some striking looking deities, all sporting fascinating backstories. As a result, there’s plenty of visual inspiration for the numismatic world, and Germania Mint has tapped into it for this pair of cast silver bars, which form part of their extensive cast bar program, now building up to a sizeable selection from many producers.

The new bars feature two of the key figures in the celebration. The first is Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity, beauty, and fertility. She s multi-armed, and usually depicted with a lotus flower, both present on this bar’s pretty colour artwork. The other is the highly recognisable elephant-headed god, Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles, and also a god of good fortune.

Both are colourful, attractive bars, and in keeping with the spirit of Diwali. We put some of our own images of the bars below the official videos. The mintage of each is capped at 500. The bars are marked as part of a commemorative range, so expect to see more themes in the future. We’ve added these to our big guide to the whole program.

DIWALI BARS

A quick look at that guide will show you a wide range of designs from third-party producers, released as part of this program, but under their own names, including Asturmint, Royal Kraków Mint, Carpathian Mint, and more. These aren’t issued by Germania Mint itself. One of the lesser known companies to take advantage of the program, is Goldenmark, a Polish chain of stores selling precious metal, fine art, and books.

We’ve covered a couple of them before, but they’ve added three new ones of late, which you can see below. The first one is a commemoration of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and depicts an urban combat scene. The second one celebrates Polish Independence Day in 1918, and follows a similar design released last year. The final one is a celebration of marriage, depicting a newly-wed couple on a scooter. They’re all a little niche, for sure, but collectors will like the mintages, which at 100, 50, and 100 respectively, are positively microscopic. The bars can be purchased HERE, but you’d have to check where they ship to, as I’ve found them quite unresponsive to questions. An interesting selection, regardless.
