TWO-OUNCE CAST SILVER BAR PROGRAMME (2024) by Germania Mint
First appearing in early 2024, Germania Mint debuted a new two-ounce silver cast bar featuring some very striking artwork, and a set series length. Entitled simply ‘Goddesses’, it mined the rich vein that is Norse mythology for inspiration. It was a huge hit, if auction prices are any indicator.
The mint started a programme allowing for other producers to have their own custom designs made in the same format, and while it’s still new at the time of writing, it looks like it’s going to be popular. Hence, this guide. These are relatively low effort releases, with no worries on dealing with issuing nations, or high-relief, or fancy finishes – it’s all about the artwork. Each designer has their own engraved glyph on the back, and packaging is similar.
We don’t cover cast bars here as a rule, so full news posts on each release seem a little excessive. We were fortunate to receive a sample of Sigyn from Germania Mint (thank you), and they are terrific pieces. Anyway, keep an eye on our homepage, especially the yellow update bars, and we’ll add new issues here, and inform you of the release there. In the meantime, enjoy a fine selection.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
GODDESSES (2024) by Germania Mint
The one that started it all, and created quite a buzz on the secondary market. It’s easy to see why, as the artwork is quite stunning, and also appears on the box. This is a six-bar series. The glyph on the back is the Germania Mint shield.
GODS (2024) by Germania Mint
The popularity of Goddesses led to the very quick release of a companion Gods range, also drawing from Norse and Germanic mythology. The artwork is of a similar style, and is carried through to the packaging. Also a six-bar series, we believe. The glyph on the back is the Germania Mint shield.
COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS (2025) by Germania Mint
This range doesn’t seem to be a tightly defined series, and I did consider putting it with the one-offs, but big holiday, religious, and historical events around the world are a fertile breeding ground in modern coins, and I see no reason the cast bars won’t follow suit. The first pair were released for the Diwali festival, which is widely celebrated across the Indian subcontinent. Some very nice artwork as well.
AMERICANA (2024) by GovMint
Americana is exactly what it sounds like, a series of bars showcasing some of the more jingoistic imagery of the United States, starting with the Bald Eagle. It looks great, maintaining the high standards this program is known for. It’s a co-production between Germania Mint and US dealer GovMint, but carries the former’s glyph on the back.
SEVEN DEADLY SINS (2024) by Asturmint
A range of seven bars with some very vibrant artwork. Each features a specific colour theme, and a female personification of the specific sin. The box art mirrors each bar’s palette. The glyph on the back is the Asturmint bull.
POKER CARDS (2024) by Asturmint
Asturmint’s second series, featuring some striking playing card designs. At the time of writing, we don’t know how many there will be in this range, but there are plenty to choose from. The glyph on the back is the Asturmint bull.
TERMINATOR (2025) by Asturmint
2026
2027
The first bar from Asturmint in 2025, we're currently unsure if this is the first in a new series, or a one-off. It taps into popular dystopian themes, but the addition of the fox is a cool touch. As always, the Asturmint bull glyph is on the back.
THE OUTER SPACE (2025) by Asturmint
2026
2027
Another new series from Asturmint for 2025, The Outer Space has an almost limitless potential for new designs, and on the evidence of this super first issue, it will be fulfilled. As always, the Asturmint bull glyph is on the back.
BIG FIVE OF AFRICA (2024) by Royal Kraków Mint
RHINOCEROS
BUFALLO
A five bar range featuring a numismatic classic subject, the African Big Five animals. The artwork is particularly impressive, and the info at the bottom well integrated. The glyph on the back is the RKM crown and initials.
LUNAR BEAST AND BEAUTY (2024) by Today
Beauty and the Beast is an age-old trope these days, but we rarely see it well done as the beautiful artwork on these bars. These are issued by one of our favourite producers, the South Korean company, Today, producers of some incredible stackable silver bullion. Themed around the lunar calendar, they each depict the lunar animal in the company of a gorgeous woman. There's no glyph on the back, strangely, and mintages vary. The Dragon is 270, the snake 300.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN (2024) by Carpathian Mint
BLACK HORSE
PALE HORSE
This will be a four bar range, with each of them depicting one of the Four Horsemen. The range ties in quite neatly with their coin range with the same subject. The artwork is different, but certainly inspired by those. The glyph on the back is the Carpathian Mint logo.
GRIM REAPER (2024) by Carpathian Mint
GRIM REAPER III
GRIM REAPER IV
GRIM REAPER V
The personification of death has been a consistent character in the mythology of many cultures around the world. This five-bar series will carry images of the Grim Reaper, and be released at the rate of one per year. The glyph on the back is the Carpathian Mint logo.
MYTHICAL CREATURES (2024) by Sterling Silver Surfers
TO BE CONFIRMED
A new release we came across in our virtual travels, Medusa is the first in a trio of bars featuring Greek Mythology. The first one has cleverly combined the character's nature with the lunar Year of the Snake in 2025, by having the serpents in her hair spell out '2025'. Pretty artwork. The glyph is a neat play on the three initials of the company forming a maze - perhaps that of the Minotaur.
VARIOUS THEMES (2024) by Goldenmark
Polish dealer, Goldenmark, has partnered with Germania Mint for some unique one-off designs, starting with a beautiful design for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There seems to be a mix of event and history themes, with the notable exception of that very pretty Butterfly design. The mintages of them all are low, often startlingly.
ONE-OFF ISSUES
Not all of these bars will be issued as part of a coherent series, and we suspect many will be issued for events. The first of them was from Germania Mint itself, and marked their attendance of the World Money Fair in Berlin. This was followed by a similar design for the Chicago ANA coin show in mid-2024.
