After a hard day pillaging and decapitating, the Barbarian King is off on a date on T&S Coin’s latest silver coin

Headlined by such characters from literature by Conan the Cimmerian, and in history by such figures as Attila the Hun, and Odoacer, the barbarian conqueror of Rome, the legend of the barbarian ruler using visceral force over diplomacy, is a potent one. Books, films, and television shows have captured the imagination many times, and the documentary world finds great success retelling the histories.

T&S Coin’s latest two-ounce silver coin is Barbarian King, depicting the classic Conan-like figure with a naked woman in one hand, and a severed head in the other. It doesn’t get more classic barbarian than that. The woman is red-haired, just like Red Sonja in the Conan tales, further inspiration from the Robert E. Howard classic. Skulls abound, and a broad, gilded sword sits in the foreground. There’s no confusing what this one is about, subtle it isn’t… Lovers of the genre will find it super appealing.

The obverse is this producer’s terrific common one, and the coin is issued for Cameroon. It comes in one of those neat black boxes, and with a certificate of authenticity. The mintage is capped at 500 pieces. The coin looks great, and while it isn’t as original as some of their other recent releases (Cobellian, Don Quixote, for example), it’s laser-focused on a hugely popular genre, and we’re fine with that.
