Just a couple of days ago, we covered the 18 coins issued to finish Pop Coins twin Zodiac series of micro-mintage coins. These finished up an initial tranche released earlier this year. Along with that first tranche came six coins in a neat series called Anime Art, which combined some of the classic masterpieces from history, and gave them a Japanese anime twist.

A little later this time, Pop Coins have launched a second wave of six coins, and they’re as unique as the first wave. I said at the time I preferred this range to the Anime Zodiac coins, and these six coins just reinforced that view. Classics like the Van Gogh self-portrait shown above, American Gothic, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps, are all given a refreshing twist, which is more fun and interesting than the originals, that appear seemingly all the time on modern coins.

As we already published a post about Pop Coins new ranges earlier this week, I’ve just added the six new coins in this range to our profile of this producer’s micro-mintage range, covering a wide range of different themes. Anime Art is unusual in being half-ounce silver, rather than the one or two ounces of other series, so should be more affordable, yet that continue with that tiny mintage limit of just 99 pieces.
