Wonder Woman follows Batman as the second release in the New Zealand Mint’s DC Comics bullion range

SILVERGOLD

It seems that popular culture continues its inroads into the bullion coin market with the New Zealand Mint expanding its DC Comics range. Batman debuted via exclusive distributor EMK back in January, and now fellow Justice League member, Wonder Woman, joins the precious metal line-up.

The design is clearly in the same vein as the Batman one, choosing to depict the character in full, and as part of a wider scene. This contrasts with the Marvel series put out by the Perth Mint, that leans towards the portrait style. It does remain firmly based in the comics world, rather than mining the Hollywood look.

The same two formats make up the range – a one ounce 0.999 silver and a one ounce 0.9999 gold. The former has a mintage of 15,000 pieces, and the latter just 150. Both are unboxed, but come encapsulated. They’re both up on pre-notice at EMK, with shipping at the end of June.

REVERSE: The motive depicts Wonder Womanâ„¢ in her legendary superhero costume against the background of skyscapers. In her hand she holds her famous lasso.

OBVERSE: The Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the issuer details are shown on the coin’s obverse.
