The Nightmare Before Christmas 30th Anniversary 1 oz silver coin (2023 New Zealand Mint)

The animated classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas’, released in 1993, and directed by Tim Burton, has already received some attention in numismatic circles, notably by the New Zealand Mint. Those coins garnered some impressive appreciation on the aftermarket, so clearly, the film has its fans.
Fast-forward to October 2023, and the mint is back with a new, and more ambitious release. The main character, Jack Skellington, has donated the shape of his head to the coin, with high-relief, and an antique finish rounding it out. The eye sockets carry images of Jack, and his main squeeze, Sally. It’s all quite charming.
Neat packaging, as you’d expect from this mint, a sub-$100 RRP, and a relatively small mintage for a one-ounce coin, mean this will no doubt be very appealing to one of the movie’s legions of fans. Available now.
