PAMP marks the 75th anniversary of the iconic Fender Telecaster with guitar-shaped, seven variant, mystery box silver coin

Released to the same concept as the Stratocaster 70th Anniversary mystery box range in 2024, the 2026 issue celebrates the 75th anniversary of the equally iconic Fender guitar, the Telecaster. These are one-ounce proof-like silver coins, shaped and detailed like a guitar. As before, you’re buying a sealed box with one of a number of coloured variants of a guitar-shaped coin within, but you don’t know which one it is until you open it.

While the Stratocaster coin had five variants, this time the number has been upped to seven, even though the combined mintage has dropped from 5,000 pieces, to 4,000. Mintages of the seven colours vary considerably, from 100 in the case of Liquid Gold, to 1,000 for the Vintage Blonde, which they say reflects the rarity of the original guitars. There are some differences in the designs other than just the colour, as they reproduce different types of Telecaster, such as Ultra II, Pro Classic, and Player II.

As I said before, randomised content coins are not a concept I’m particularly at ease with. What works for a $3 pack of trading cards, doesn’t necessarily work for a $100+ silver coin, but these just work so well, it’s hard to be overly critical. Whatever one you get, it’s decent value, as PAMP aren’t overly aggressive with their pricing, and all are very cool. The commonest variant is worth the price, and rarer variants are just a bonus. I really like these, and would be super happy with the gold, white, blue, or red variants, particularly. The blind box concept done right, as long as you aren’t trying to get all seven.

Don’t forget, we have a fine Thematic guide to coins of a modern musical nature, which includes all of these guitar coins, as well as a full round-up of many other series. Check it out for the full look.
