POP Coins premium ‘NEO’ range expands into its Egyptian Heritage series with the launch of the high-relief Anubis
Kings of the affordable, ultra-low mintage silver coin, POP Coins, launched their first NEO coin last November, featuring a high-relief version of the Velociraptor design from the Jurassic Life range. That was a two-ounce coin, and now they’ve issued their first one-ounce NEO coin, also drawing from an earlier, more basic issue.
Egyptian Heritage is a series depicting the various, often animal-headed gods in the pantheon of Ancient Egypt, and there have been six different designs released to date. One of them, Anubis, has now made the transition to high-relief, sporting an antique finish, and some terrific, subdued colouring. The imagery is basically identical, but the removal of the border, and the title inscriptions, lift this to a higher level, leaving a fine, uncluttered design.
The obverse remains the same, but the higher relief and antique finish look so much nicer than a standard proof finish. The packaging remains identical to the earlier release. The mintage is very low at just 199 pieces, which is actually 100 more than the base coin. I must admit to a soft spot for these NEO variants, with their clean design and great colour. Available to order now.
