Pop Coins brings their alien coin range into high relief with a two-ounce ‘Grey’, and it’s coming for you

Pop Coins released a ten-coin series of AI-generated Alien coins last July, part of a larger range including pets, dinosaurs, travel, and culture, and some of them have since doubled in size to two-ounces. All of them are coloured, sporting a proof finish, and with each subset having a common obverse. Mintages were tiny, especially for the two-ounce variants. Their latest release, however, is the first departure from that format.

Diving back into the perennially popular theme of aliens and UFO’s, ‘Alien Face’ is a two-ounce, high-relief, antique-finished coin – a classic format in modern numismatics. The inspiration for the design does come from the debut series, specifically the ‘Alien Gesture’ coin, with one of the classic alien ‘Greys’ pointing at you from the coin. The background is all new though, with a moon, flying saucers, and stars filling out the design. It’s all nicely layered, with the alien getting the lions share of the high-relief.

The obverse utilises the exact design from the proof coins, but with an antique finish that looks perfect. The whole coin is a fine encapsulation of the X-Files favourite boogeymen, and a good indicator of what could be to come if this style of coin continues at Pop Coins.
