Pan of Pleasure: Paella 1oz proof silver coin (2025 Powercoin)

We’ve always found it a little odd that food has been a popular subject in the modern coin world. From instant noodles, hazelnut spread, doughnuts, pretzels, and even tea and biscuits, there have been a plethora of various designs over the last decade. Not numerous, but enough to know that a sizeable market exists for them, and Powercoin know better than most.
The first one-ounce silver coin in their new ‘Pans of Pleasure’ series (cool name!), is a classic Spanish dish, loved around the world (although not in my house…) – Paella. This is a rice dish, heavily spiced, that originated around the Valencia region around two centuries ago. It is mixed with various meats and vegetables, although the one depicted on this new coin is a specifically seafood type called Paella de Marisco.
The coin carries a coloured image of the dish, laid out perfectly, with prawns, and shellfish radiating out from the centre of the bed of rice. This face is free of inscription, and is all the better for it. Colouring here looks to be rich in tone, and of a very high resolution. The obverse depicts the bottom of the pan, and the flames of the burner underneath, inside which sits the Public Seal of Niue.
The coin comes boxed with a certificate of authenticity, and has a mintage cap of 499 pieces. A popular dish in what is a quite popular theme in modern numismatics. Available to order now.
