Numiartis brings the Mint of Poland’s mythology coin style to Valentines Day, with ‘I Love You’

If you’ve visited us here before, you’ve likely bumped into at least one of the Mint of Poland’s superb 2oz ultra high relief mythology coins. Bringing some first class coin design to reality with state of the art minting technology, this mint has proven itself highly capable in that field, with producers taking full advantage.

One of those is Numiartis who have issued some of the best of them, including perhaps the one that helped kick off the current popularity of them – Ares. There have been quite a few of them now, so it’s great to see some tentative steps in taking this excellent format into new genres and what better one to choose on Valentines Day than love.

Filled with intricate detail from edge to edge, it has shades of the cultural designs that have appeared sparingly over the last couple of years. Aimed at the more casual buyer, they’ve chosen to incorporate Swarovski crystals and a red resin heart into the design for added impact – items that seem to translate well to the wider gift market rather than the hardcore numismatist.

The obverse has the usual effigy of Queen Elizabeth II at its centre, but a neat touch is a border inscribed with the words ‘I Love You’ in many different languages. These sit over a neat bas-relief style heart pattern. Available to order shortly, the coin will come boxed with a C.O.A. and has a mintage of 520 pieces. It is the first of a new annual series and would make a fine gift for the loved one, especially if they’re a coin collector.
