Cameroon and the Scottsdale Mint launch the Cheetah silver bullion coin

REVERSEOBVERSE

After a packed release schedule in 2018, it’s clear already that Scottsdale Mint has little intention of slowing down anytime soon, and that we can look forward to another year of interesting new bullion coins as 2019 progresses. Today sees a new addition to the stable and it’s one of the mints African nations doing the honours this time. Cameroon joins Chad, Ghana and Congo in Scottsdale’s 999 silver bullion coin range.

With nature being a hugely popular choice as a subject for this kind of coin, proven without question by the ultra-rapid sell-out of Scottsdales similar Ghanaian Leopard (although aided by a tiny 8,500 mintage), the choice of a Cheetah is little surprise. Unlike the Leopard coin, the background eschews the usual habitat and goes with an interesting stylisted representation of the flag of Cameroon. The obverse has  their Coat of Arms as its main design element.

It’s a neat issue that’s different enough from the usual nature-themed bullion coin and with a sensible mintage given how crowded the market has become. Available now, premiums should be quite competitive.
