Man and machine are starting to merge on a fundamental level, and it’s inspired Powercoin’s latest in silver

The world is changing faster than ever, with new innovations coming on an almost weekly basis. At the moment, the big thing is artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics, along with their integration into the human experience. Neuralink, one of Elon Musk’s many companies, is working to integrate computer technology into the human brain, to aid those with disabilities. Who knows where it will go from here – perhaps something from the sci-fi worlds of The Matrix, or Neuromancer, perhaps.

Powercoin’s latest three-ounce silver coin has a go at guessing with a human head, overlaid with extensive circuitry. The head is struck in high-relief, and the circuitry is subtly coloured with a hologram effect, shimmering when the coin is moved in the hand, and simulating the flow of electrons. It’s a clean and simple design, but an effective one.

The obverse continues the circuitry theme, and if you look closely, you can see the design subdivided to form Powercoin’s logo. Fortunately, it isn’t too in-your-face, and it stands as a neat twist, without being intrusive. It comes boxed in a latex-skin ‘floating’ frame, with a themed insert, and has a mintage capped at 499 pieces. A nice release, for a subject we suspect we’ll be seeing a lot more of in the coming years. Available to order now.
