Pik Coins returns to the awesome world of Peaky Blinders with the unbalanced Arthur as the latest in the Shelby clan to feature
One of the best TV shows of all time, in my humble opinion, Peaky Blinders tells the story of a post First World War criminal enterprise in Birmingham, England. Named after the razor blades embedded in the peaks of their flat caps, the family enterprise tries to dominate the alcohol, betting, and other markets through violence and intimidation, fighting off rivals in a brutal world.
Starring Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, it has a hugely talented cast playing characters, centred around the rest of the family. Chief amongst those was his older brother, the highly troubled Arthur, wracked with internal demons, and capable of extreme violence. He was played by the awesome Paul Anderson, who will be amongst those returning for the new Peaky Blinders film, coming soon.
The depiction on the coin looks bang-on in the renders, right down to the hairstyle, the clothing, and the poses. Arthur lived life to the max, and you get a sense of that devil-may-care attitude here. Outside some gilded highlights, which are limited to titles, it’s all antique finished, and we suspect will look great in hand given the quality of the Tommy Shelby issue.
The common obverse returns, one that hints that, perhaps, the family matriarch, Polly, will be the next coin. It would be a great addition. This one comes boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity, and has a mintage capped at 500 pieces. I know these are just renders, but images and video we’ve seen of the first coin put out by others is very impressive, and we have no reason to suspect this one will be any different. As a massive fan of Peaky Blinders, I’d want to own this series. Available to order from today.
UPDATE: Fixed mintage. It’s just 500, not 1000 units.
