Stackable silver bullion adds two fine new designs from South Korea, a Medusa from Coin’s Today, and a tiger from KOMSCO
Coins Today’s outstanding, and highly varied, stackable silver range gets a new addition, and joining them this time is another South Korean icon, KOMSCO, the South Korean mint, with an issue of their own, this linked to one of their popular bullion round series, the Korean Tiger, more particularly, the 2018 issue.
The tiger is a superb representation, with excellent anatomy, and a pose that suits this magnificent animal perfectly. The high-relief is well layered, and the antique finish a better match than a standard uncirculated look would be. The back has the required negative impression to make this fully stackable. We’re particularly pleased to see the tiger weigh in at a very affordable one-ounce. It comes boxed and encapsulated, and 5,000 will be produced.
The second, a two-ounce piece as part of Today’s broad and eclectic range, is actually a more mainstream effort than their usual fare, and part of the ancient mythology genre that is such a staple of the modern coin world. Medusa is a relatively common subject, and the depiction here is a traditional one, with her face surrounded by snakes, behind which is a Greek meander border pattern. It’s packed with high-relief, and has that stackable negative obverse. This one comes encapsulated, and is also capped at 5,000 pieces. Both of these are available to order now.
These producers have always made the extra effort to provide decent imagery, which given the aesthetic nature of much of modern numismatics, should be de rigeur, in my view. We’ve reproduced below what we have.
