Homer Simpson bullion coin resurfaces in gold for a limited release from the Perth Mint

REVERSEOBVERSE

Launched back in February, the Perth Mint brought the iconic Simpsons to its family of silver bullion coins with a very neat Homer and doughnut design, a coin we liked much more than the various proof efforts the mint has also issued. It’s taken almost six months, but we finally have a gold version to sit alongside it.

No changes to the design and the mintage of 5,000 pieces isn’t the smallest in a world of 100-coin runs, but this is a huge licence and about as cool a design as you’d expect. Homer is obviously the star of the show and this image sums him up perfectly. Just 500 of the coins will be mounted to a blistercard (image at top). The price we’ve seen listed is has an AUD price of $2,495 inc. tax, but gold has risen $200 AUD since we received the press info, so expect that to change. The unmounted coin will follow the normal pricing practice of spot plus.
