Divine Weapons returns with a second silver release, and it’s the bow of the Greek goddess, Artemis
Dimensional bullion specialists, Coin’s Today, have just released the second in its ‘Divine Weapons’ range, and following the Thunderbolt of Zeus, we have the legendary bow of the huntress god, Artemis. One of the key figures in Greek mythology, and one of the Twelve Olympians, Artemis was the goddess of the hunt, but also of nature and wildlife, and of childbirth. Ancient deities were required to multitask, apparently!
Her most famous artifact is a bow, often depicted as silver or golden (khryselakatos), and she delights in its use. As divine weapons go, it’s a famous one, and the perfect addition to Today’s new series. It’s another beautiful, intricate piece, covered with Hellenic iconography, and the two ounces of silver is selectively gilded. Even the ‘bowstring’ is made of silver. It certainly looks like a weapon wielded by a god. This impressive 160 mm long recreation will come boxed, and just 500 will be produced. A clever addition to a fascinating series.
