Coca Cola World Edition gold bottlecap coins (2021 Crown Mint)
One of the more unusual coin series of recent years, the Crown Mint’s bottle cap coin homage to Coca-Cola was a popular item in 2018, that reached new heights with an interesting ten coin series through 2020. Called ‘World Edition’, it reproduced caps from ten different and diverse nations around the world, all done in colour on silver. After a short hiatus, the series is going back to the beginning, but this time is being minted in fine gold, and without colour.
There are two out at the moment, China and Israel, each weighing 12 grams and struck to a proof finish, and the rest should follow on a semiregular basis. Also unusual is the way they’re made available. Each will be on sale for just 30 days at the mint, and the mintage will not exceed 100 pieces. Packaging is heavy on the Coca-Cola branding, and there’s a matching, themed certificate as well.
We’ve added these two to our big guide to the original silver and gold issues, as well as the silver World Edition, as well as the last silver coin in that set, Bangladesh, which we missed at the time. An eclectic range, for sure, but one aimed at a surprisingly large number of Coca-Cola collectors.#
