CIT Winter Launch Day: Real Heroes – Firefighter remembers the sacrifice of 9/11 and more

Following on from last years superb Fighter Pilot coin, the launch issue of the new ‘Real Heroes’ series, CIT delve into the civilian world with a celebration of the work of firefighters and a commemoration of an event that cost 343 of them their lives – the 9/11 attacks in New York. Fighter Pilot employed the full abilities of smartminting to provide exceptional levels of relief, while also allowing some exquisite colouring.

Firefighter is an altogether more impressive piece technically, offering a far more sophisticated employment of relief than the simpler dome of the first coin. Colour looks exquisite, getting across the battered and bruised visage of a New York firefighter, with the number 343, representing the number of firefighters that lost their lives in the fall of the Twin Towers. A custom obverse rounds out an excellent release. It will come in a display frame and is capped at a poignant 911 pieces. A hugely worthy subject for an impressive coin.
