Australian Emu silver and gold bullion coins (2023 Perth Mint)
Another perennial favourite of the bullion calendar, the Perth Mint’s ‘Australian Emu’, is back with a sixth annual release in both one-ounce 0.9999 silver, and one-ounce 0.9999 gold. Launched in 2018, it was exclusively distributed by European dealer, Metal Market EU, something that remains the case to this day. Like many limited mintage series around today, especially from this Western Australian producer, it maintains a consistent theme, for this series, the bird that won a war against the Australian Army…
For the 2023 coin, we’re back with a parent and chicks, three of the latter this time. A good design, the continued restriction of the border by the habitat artwork is much welcomed – indeed, the expansive environment around the bird is a nice touch, although a sun and/or some clouds in the sky would’ve lifted it more, in our opinion. All told, a good addition to the series., with some decent artwork by Sean Rogers. The obverse retains the mints usual effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, but in memorial form. It’s available to order now, with the silver having a mintage of 30,000 pieces, and the gold 5,000 pieces, both unchanged from previous years.
We also have a Bullion Profile to the series, which you can check it out HERE. There’s also a comprehensive summary of all the Perth Mint’s many limited mintage bullion series in our profile HERE.
