PMC continue their unusual ‘theme-in-a-box’ style coin range with Mission X Pistol, with everything the next 007 will need
Just two months ago, we had a long-overdue look at what Singaporean producer, Precious Metal Collectors, had been up to, and in amongst the four coins was a real gem. Called ‘Journey on the road’ it was like a framed agglomeration of all thing motorcycle, from the machine itself, to parts, accessories, and even attire. It almost looked like the parts from a model kit laid out in a tray.
In a similar vein is ‘Mission X Pistol’ a kind of toolkit for the aspiring secret agent, centred around a Colt M1911 pistol, and a rather lethal looking, although questionably useful, knife. In addition, there are bullets, a silencer, torch, watch, and even coins, everything a spy would need to get killed in short order… It’s framed by what looks like the edge of a case. One bullet is gilded.
The obverse is equally varied, with extra bullets and dogtags scattered over a passport emblazoned with the national emblem of Samoa. Behind is a target, ringed from 1 to 10. Like the reverse face, high relief is very well employed, and everything has a crisp definition to it. The whole coin has a nice integrated feel, and one that seems more ‘real-world’ than the motorbike coin.
Overall, another terrific release from PMC, and proof they’re much more than the producer of bi-metal fine art coins, although even those are top-tier, in my view. Available to order now, the mintage of this two-ounce silver coin is capped at 399 units, and it comes well presented in a box, with a COA, of course.
