AGAUSHOOT: Our photographs of MCI-Mints new antique-finish Spinosaurus coin

Thanks to Hermann at MCI-Mint, we managed to borrow a couple of their new releases to photograph. We specifically asked for this Spinosaurus coin in particular as we suspected the coin was far nicer than the original images would lead you to believe and fortunately that’s turned out to be the case.

A one-ounce antique-finish coin that is the first in a new series, it’s a format that MCI do extremely well and this coin is no exception. Limited to just 499 pieces and selling for just under €100, fans of prehistoric wildlife will find it a nice design to add to their collection. We covered the coin in full on its release back in mid-April so by all means take a look at that, but please enjoy the images of this fine quality design. If you’re wondering, the skull replica is from the special edition of Sideshow Collectibles superb Spinosaurus diorama, and the tooth is a real Spinosaurus fossil from around the Atlas Mountain region of Morocco. The smaller tooth embedded in the rock in the background is actually from a huge marine predator called a mosasaur.
