‘Take me to your leader’ obviously never crossed the mind of the alien on this new coin, seemingly preferring that age-old classic line, ‘Hulk smash’ instead. The alien invasion of Earth is a classic trope, the basis for countless books, films, and TV series, and one of the more famous antagonists has been the alien ‘Grey’, a slightly built, big-eyed, hairless species with a penchant for butt probing.

The coin show us a version of this species, managing to capture the essence of it, but with the menace ramped up to maximum. An outstanding and imaginative depiction in its zen-like pose. Around it, chaos ensues with some of the world’s most famous landmarks taking a battering. Everything from Sydney Opera House, to the Eiffel Tower, to the Pyramids of Giza, are composited in the background, with an exaggerated perspective as if seen through a fisheye lens. In the sky above the alien is a SpaceX Starship (which probably doesn’t need help exploding ;-)), and what looks like an Ariane rocket. The viruses in the air is a fantastic little touch, suggesting Covid could have been an alien pathogen, instead of dripping out of the nose of a Wuhan bat…

I have to admit to absolutely loving this one. The pose, the background, the subtle colouring, and the expression on the face of the alien, is all superb. A really quirky take on a perennial favourite theme. Available to order now, this two-ounce high-relief silver coin has a mintage of 500 pieces, and comes boxed with a COA. My favourite T&S Coin release of 2026 by far.
