The penultimate Hunters of the Sky bird shaped silver coin series from PAMP is the Red Tailed Hawk

The second of the three bird shaped coins in PAMP/MTB’s Hunters of the Sky series is now upon us, and this time out it’s the Red Tailed Hawk. A companion series to Hunters of the Deep with its shark-shaped issues, these one-ounce fine silver coins are shaped like a bird in flight, eschewing the usual geometric shape that the vast majority of coins adopt.

The Red tailed Hawk is another neat design, sensibly depicting the bird in flight again. There’s a good level of detail present, even though these don’t head far into a third dimension. The obverse just carries the usual effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscribed issue details for the Solomon Islands. A serial number (of 2,500) is engraved on this face.

Packaging is well done and attractive, allowing easy display. The series is relatively affordable for the format and presentation, coming in with an rrp of just under $100, and it should be available to order now. The last issue in the set, the Great Horned Owl, should be revealed in January. The first issue was the Bald Eagle.
