The Execution Troopers are the sixth in the Star Wars: Guards of the Empire silver coin series

One of the more unpleasant groups in Star Wars canon, the First Order’s Sstormtrooper Executioners were tasked with dispensing final justice to their enemies. Randomly picked from the regular stormtroopers for the day, they carried no identification and their voices were disguised to hide their identity. They carried out public executions to instill terror in problematic places, using a laser axe designed to inflict maximum pain.

We like these coins, despite not being particularly big Star Wars fans. They take a subject rarely highlighted and the coins designs are always first class. This one has the subject in full colour, as always, with the background carrying an antique finished scene. The Execution Trooper coin is unusual in having a major character in that background, in this case Kylo Ren. The obverse is just an effigy of QEII and the required issue details.

Packaging is top quality, with a very neat solid acrylic frame for display and a hologram adorned Certificate of Authenticity. The mintage is capped at 2,000 pieces and the coin is available from today. One of the best Star Wars series the New Zealand Mint does, in our view.
