Scottsdale Mints 2019 Eastern Caribbean Eight bullion programme wraps up with the Saint Lucian Flamingo

A little late, but the 2019 EC8 bullion coin programme from Scottsdale Mint has finally wrapped up with the release of the eighth coin in the series. Like the 2018 range, this one has finished with one of the best designs of the year, the Flamingo issued for Saint Lucia. Similar in execution to the 2018 design, this is a simpler affair, choosing the full silhouette rather than the oil painting look of last years beautiful piece. The flamingo is such a distinctive bird that the silhouette works well.

No changes to the common obverse, and no changes to the mintages either. The silver 1oz bullion coin is limited to 25,000 pieces and the 1oz gold to 2,500. Proof coloured versions should be along shortly and have mintages of 2,500 for the silver and 500 for the gold. We’re just waiting for confirmation on whether a third annual programme for 2020 will be issued. We’ve been tracking this series or some time in our Bullion Coin Profile, so head on over there for the full details of this series.

MINTS DESCRIPTION

The 2019 EC8 St. Lucia Flamingo coin depicts a silhouetted pair of tropical flamingo against a backdrop of clouds and gentle waves washing over the shore. Blessed by nature, St. Lucia has geographic and cultural riches enough to embarrass far bigger nations. This Caribbean country boasts a fantastically unique bird-watching experience, whether on the beach or in the islands mountain regions.
