This is a simple series of one-ounce silver coins, coloured on one face, and featuring animals. On the surface that seems a recipe for unadventurous coins, but nothing could be further from the truth. The artwork on this series has been sublime, with outstanding portrayals of a wide range of mammalian creatures, enhanced with expertly employed, subtle colouration.

There really isn’t too much to say about these. They’re the classic example of design over gimmickry, relying completely on superb artistry. There is some smartminted high-relief, just enough to give each animal some depth, and the combination of negative space on one side, and a coloured arc of flora, is perfect for framing, but not overwhelming the subject. Even the common obverse has been enhanced with environmental imagery.

Each coin comes boxed in one of those latex-skin frames for easy display, complete with an internal, themed card. One of the very best animal coin series ever made, it sadly ended in 2026 after nine issues. All the coins are pictured below.
