We’ve had a long-running Thematic Guide to the New Zealand Mint’s (now Agoro) Star Wars franchise since it kicked off running in 2016. However, while we expected it to slow down over time, it’s actually done no such thing, and we ended up with an article that just outgrew itself, to the point even editing it was painful, and it would bring the computer to a crawl. Clearly, we had to do something, and the first step we’ve taken is to remove all the silver foils from that guide, of which there are many, and put them in their own one, and here we are.

Silver foils, for the uninitiated, are usually denominated, just like a coin, but here the silver is wafer thin, and generally sealed in soft acrylic. The end result is a spectacular size for a given weight. A one-ounce silver coin will generally be around 40 mm in diameter, but a one-ounce foil can hit 175 x 262 mm, some 36 times larger! The potential is obvious, and foils make spectacular poster coins, and general showcases for artwork.

Star Wars has an almost unlimited treasure trove of imagery, and Agoro have been utilising that for many years, and after a few quiet years, they seem to be more popular than ever. Below you will see the range to date, and like all our guides, we’ll do our best to keep it updated as new releases come out.
