ANCIENT MYTHOLOGY: An overview of Mint of Poland struck 2oz high-relief coins
Ironically raised to popularity by the Perth Mint with its debut Gods of Olympus series, the ancient world coin genre has taken to the two-ounce, antique-finished, rimless, high-relief silver coin format like no other. Although employed by several producers, it is the Mint of Poland that has made, not only the most numerous, but also the best use of this excellent compromise between weight and cost with a range of, quite frankly, stunning issues.
There are numerous series currently in progress, with more appearing quite regularly. They’ve also stirred up quite the hornet’s nest on the aftermarket, with often rapidly rising prices and quick sell-outs. We’ve always concentrated solely on the physical product itself here at AgAuNEWS, and we rarely comment on investment potential, for the obvious reasons. Our articles are up for years, and the market is fleeting. Besides, one collector’s budget may be another collector’s dream, so any comments on value are quite subjective.
However, this is a much admired and discussed market at the moment, and while we do try our best to keep up with new releases, often with world debuts, we do recognise it’s becoming harder to keep track of all the various releases and to what series they belong. Hence, this guide. This isn’t meant to be a definitive look in detail at all the coins – our Coin Series Profiles and regular news articles will take care of that – but a handy compendium of everything released to date in one place. We’ll keep an eye out for any missing coins or mistakes, but this should cover all the Mint of Poland struck issues in this format and genre, from all the various producers that partner with them. We considered putting Imperial Art in here as well, but decided that was a series better suited to a round-up of Art Architectural coins of the Tiffany ilk, something the Mint of Poland also has a healthy presence in. Comments are enabled for this guide, so feel free to discuss below.

Great job and idea!!
Got it – saw page 2. And GREAT JOB!! Super, fantastic. Thanks for listening. :-))
You delete my comment above. 🙂
No problem. I did hint at a guide a few weeks ago, but hadn’t planned on doing it this soon. The increased discussion was interesting, so I thought now’s as good a time as any.
The reverse of the dragon and anger god look the same? 🙂
Fixed. There might be another error in there, but after pulling images from tons of different articles, they all started to blend together into one…
Blend together? Really? Shocking! Lol
Gave you positive kudos on silverstackers!!
By the way, I also like how you put who the distributor is. That’s helpful too!! Thank you.
Thank you, very helpful.
Where is the coin “Samurai” ?. https://www.powercoin.it/en/mennica-polska-poland-mint/3838-samurai-warriors-2-oz-silver-coin-5-niue-2019.html
Nor do the coins “Medusa” and “Ave Caesar” appear, although since these two are dimensional coins, I understand that they do not appear in the list.

I did consider Samurai, but the mints data-sheet hints at it being a solo release and not part of a series. If that changes, I will add it. As for the others, they’re well outside the scope of this guide.
The second in the serie is here
‘MAYAN Warriors 2 Oz Silver Coin 5$ Niue 2019’
Available on preorder at powercoin
According to what I read on the internet, it is about the return of a series about ten years ago but with a new format. In Power Coin say instead that it is a new series and put exactly “Is the first release in the Warriors series, dedicated to the world’s most important warriors of history In this edition – the Samurai.” Of course, if within some time there is a new coins of this supposed new series and we will leave doubts.
Thank you Mik.
Excellent posting
Amazing idea, Mik. Also I would try to ask First Coin Company to provide real pictures that show real relief and details instead of computer models. Real pictures are more appealing.
