Pop Coins sets off on a trip around the world’s most fascinating sites with a new limited series, and the chance of an upgrade

Pop Coins have added a new themed series to their range of ultra-low mintage, one-ounce coloured silver coins, following several series sporting some pretty cool AI art. Like those, this new range keeps a mintage of just 99 pieces per design, but we get genuine photographic images in place of the artificial imagery, and this time, there’s a unique twist.

Called ‘Journey of a Lifetime’, this new series, produced in conjunction with CTB Global, a fascinating adventure travel blog, depicts various natural and historical locations around the world, and there are three in the initial release. Like the other Pop Coins issues, each series has its own common border, in this case shaped like a camera lens aperture, filled with a ring of travel-themed icons. There are two classic archaeological sites, Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza, and one natural, Horseshoe Bend.

The travel theme continues over on the common obverse, with a wide border replete with line drawings of travel items, almost like modern hieroglyphics. In the centre is the national coat-of-arms of the issuing country, Cameroon. Each coin comes in a box, with a Certificate of Authenticity, which carries a personal story from a visitor to that location. A nice personal touch, there’s a sample of one below.

We said earlier that there was a unique twist, and the gilded versions you can see below are it. The certificate has a small scratch-off foil section, under which is a code. Visit a website page, enter the code, and you may have qualified for an upgrade to one of the gilded variants. These are ultra-rare, with only eight of each design available in this form, so quite a fine catch. Available to order now, with shipping around the end of January.
