CIT debut a gilded version of its innovative dimensional lunar pig for the Beijing coin show

2019 GILDED JOLLY PIG

Probably our favourite lunar pig coin to be released so far, CIT Coin Invest launched the Silver Jolly Pig earlier this year and it was something quite different. A full dimensional coin – basically one that is sculpted in all directions – it was a terrifc issue that perfectly encapsulated the lunar aspects. The mintage of 999 sold out in pretty short order.

Starting tomorrow is the Beijing International Coin Exposition and as CIT usually save their release runs for major shows we expected, and got, a nice selection of new issues to see. As China is the country most associated with the lunar calendar, we’re not surprised to see a new CIT lunar, but it’s nice to see this very cool coin back, and with a new finish.

The antique finish is gone, to be replaced with gilding, but in every other respect it’s the same coin. Those that missed out first time around now have another chance to pick up something different in a market desperately short of quality innovation. We’ve added this to our Lunar Superguide.
