Numiartis follows the iconic Notre Dame with a look at Venice for its ‘Aeternitas’ series of silver coins

In a repeat of what usually happens when I have a holiday, we continue to get swamped with new coins, so we’ve set aside the rest of today to wrap some of them up. The latest is this attractive look at Venice from Numiartis, which follows their collaborative effort with Germania Mint in 2021, featuring the cathedral, Notre Dame. This one is struck by the Mint of Poland.

Despite the change, the coin style remains perfectly realised, with that pretty antique finish, subtle and restrained colouring, and gilded lettering. The view of the 98.6 m tall St Mark’s Campanile tower is seen from the canal, a line of gondola’s in the foreground – all quintessentially Venetian. The obverse shows the sculptures and detailing of a Venetian facade, depicting the Doge of Venice kneeling before the Lion of Saint Mark, the symbol of the city that represents Saint Mark the Evangelist, patron of Venice.

All told, a pretty two-ounce silver coin, that comes boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity. The mintage is capped at 499 pieces, and it should ship around the end of this month.
