Agoro to auction a one-off, life-size cast silver reproduction inspired by The Dark Knight’s cowl to aid Save The Children

We do like something unique here at AgAuNEWS, and Agoro certainly haven’t disappointed with their latest creation. Long known for their extensive range of popular culture releases, from such franchises as Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel Comics, it’s to another of those – DC Comics – that they’ve turned to for this one-off production.

Everybody knows Batman, and there’ve been numerous incarnations over the last nine decades, so we’re not going to concentrate on that here. One of the character’s most iconic symbols has always been his cowl, the half-mask covering his face, which has appeared on several coins in the past, but what Agoro have realised here is something quite extraordinary.

The cowl has been hand formed, cast using the old ‘lost wax’ method, but this is no quick sculpture, knocked up in a day. The cowl has been brought to life by Melbourne artist, Adrian Ward, noted for his expertise in working with silver in the production of metal sculptures, and he’s invested over 150 hours bringing this creation to completion. Agoro have an interview with him about the production process, and we encourage you to go read it, as it’s fascinating stuff.

The end result is this quite amazing piece, based around the version of the cowl in the much-loved Batman: The Animated Series. It utilises a hefty 3,175 grams of 0.9999 silver and has been extensively polished to a highly reflective state. It sits on a polished stone base, which I think is a beautiful granitic stone called Emerald Pearl, or something similar. I can’t think of much that a Batman fan would consider a more desirable centrepiece for a collection than this. As for the production numbers – just one, a solitary example, making it all the more desirable.

So, how do you get your mitts on this impressive creation? From October 17th to the 29th, it will be up for auction on the famous collectible’s seller, Goldin, with a starting bid of $1,000 USD. Best of all, all the proceeds of the sale will be given to the internationally renowned charity, Save the Children, one sadly overworked with what is going on in Gaza and Sudan at the moment. We really have to tip our hats to Agoro, and to Warner Bros. Discovery, for this. It’s a highly unique, stunningly realised piece of ultra-iconic memorabilia, brought to life by a talented artist, and all in service to a very worthy cause. Go have a look, and spread the word, so that it makes as much as possible in the auction.
