Scottsdale continue their 2019 run through the Caribbean EC8 programme with diving paradise, Grenada

The EC8 series from Scottsdale Mint continues its journey through the Caribbean with the eight-coin 2019 programme. This is the second run through the eight island nations that make up the EC8. Scottsdale have actually issued two designs today (the second article will be up shortly), and have decided to go with the bullion coins only, with the coloured proof versions to follow soon.

The first one we’re looking at is the coin for Grenada. A nation known for its fantastic diving spots, the coin takes that reputation and again, incorporates a scuba diver, this time surrounded by one of those amazing swirls of schooling fish. If we’re honest, last years design was more appealing, but we like what they tried to do here.

While the original four formats will be offered, just two have been released today. The 1oz gold and the 1oz silver bullion finish are out today. Mintages remain as before at 25,000 and 2,500 respectively, with the former in the mints innovative Certi-Lock security packaging. Montserrat is also out today, and we have Anguilla, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines as the year progresses. Our Bullion Profile to the series can be seen HERE.

MINTS DESCRIPTION

In partnership with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Scottsdale Mint is pleased to continue the 2019 EC8 Coin Program with a double legal tender release from Grenada and Montserrat. Each coin is manufactured and distributed by Scottsdale Mint, and struck in .999+ Fine Silver and .9999+ Fine Gold weighing one troy ounce.

The 2019 ECCB Grenada Diving Paradise 1 oz Silver and 1 oz Gold coins depict a lone scuba diver encircled by a massive school of rainbow runners – fish known for subtropical migrations through the West Indies. Grenada is most often described as a scuba diver’s paradise – it is blessed with an abundance of shipwrecks, reefs, walls, and underwater sculpture parks. These features allure divers interested in immersing themselves within large schools of pelagic fish species including jack, creole wrasse, and rainbow runners.
